Innovation has tradition

In dialogue with Saudi Arabia: this is the maxim of Germany’s presence at the Janadriyah Festival. This year Germany is guest of honour at the kingdom’s only festival of culture. Around one million visitors are expected on the grounds of the 14 day festivities on the outskirts of Riyadh.
Acting on behalf of the foreign office, ZEISSIG, supported by MAR Architects of Düsseldorf, has prepared an exhibition concept for Germany’s participation at the 30th Janadriyah Festival, creating an exciting space in and around a 2000 sqm building on the festival grounds.
The German pavilion reflects the slogan of “Innovation has tradition” and is designed to provide a “living image of our culture”, emphasised Foreign Minister Steinmeier at the official opening ceremony last Wednesday.
The tour was joined by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, visiting an historical German market place complete with half-timbered houses and proceeding to the stands of innovative German organisations, businesses and institutions. Themed exhibitions on subjects such as fundamental rights and the role of women in science also play a key role in the German pavilion.
